Text - vomirrhea 1 13.0K 11h I was out with coworkers in the crowded downtown area and we all got pretty smashed. Trying to leave at 2am, I was put in charge of getting my buddy home as he was too drunk to function and we lived only a block away from each other. I was trying desperately to get a cab but it was a busy Saturday night and I was having no luck at all. Then out if nowhere, a man with a full beard and a manbun appeared and he was wearing a gauzy pink dress with yellow flowers. He said

Text - schnit123 7.9K 10h I had tons of strange encounters when I lived in Hawaii but this was one of the weirdest. I was walking home late one night and saw a guy carrying a huge bag of mangoess coming the other direction. As we're passing he stops me and asks, "hey you want some of these mangoes?" I'm not in the habit of taking mangoes from strange men in the night so l politely refuse. He becomes enraged and starts screaming at me, "what do you mean you don't want any mangoes? You're a fuking

Text - I have never actually been in a situation where I thought I was going to have to violently defend myself from an attacker but this guy was becoming so enraged that I was backing away and trying to figure out what the best way to take him down would be but then he calms down almost instantly and says, "I don't know man, it's a crazy world out there, cuz, you know we go from generation to generation to generation to generation to generation to generation to generation..." he continued on li

Text - Lepringles710 1 6.6K 11h Lady comes up to me to be checked out (I work in a retail store) and says "we had a baby 2 weeks ago..money has been tight" which I respond, "oh congratulations! How exciting!" When all of a sudden she says "oh it was a stillborn baby, it wasn't like a normal baby." I had no other response than, "have a nice day."

Text - cucumberskinlady15.2K 11h When I was younger I was riding my scooter and then this lady who looked about 30 with really spikey green and purple hear, wearing goggles, pink leggings, and a silver bomber jacket came by scooting on her own scooter. Stopped, looked me up and down, smiled widely and yelled: Nice ride! Then scooted away

Text - justanotherace 1 4.9K 9h I was at a train station, an adult mental handicapped guy came and sat next to me, he was wearing a white leather child's restraint with a leash and he offered the leash to me, for some stupid reason I took it. I tried to give it back, he started freaking out, so I just sat there and held this guys leash until my train came. he then offered me a single shoe from a bag of single shoes he had, I tried to refuse it, but he started freaking out again, so l accepted th

I do the finger guns in response, he does finger guns right back at me. Text - AllHallowsPeeve 1 2.5K 11h Waiting at a bus stop. Woman comes up next to me is thankful the bus hadn't come yet. Proceeds to start getting distraught. I ask if she's ok *oh no* The woman proceeds to tell me the life story of her past few weeks. Her daughter(grand- daughter?) recently passed away and she was very upset. Apparently she'd been in the hospital for a while and they weren't sure what was wrong. Passed away somewhere around a few days to a week before. Woman is crying now. *How

Text - TLDR; Stranger I've never seen before shows up to bus stop next to me, and informs me her 7 year old relative passed away. Isn't the first time someone's randomly told me their child died either.

Text - Agendaphobic 12.2K 13h I was taking the elevator down to go home after waiting with family for an update about my aunt after suffering a stroke. A mid-50's man in a business suit stepped on to ride the rest of the way down. Just the two of us He faced the back of the elevator which immediately alerted me, and after we passed two floors, he began humming one low tone and started digging through his pockets. Fight or flight kicked in and I began weighing my options He pulled his fists out o

Text - Zeruvi 12.1K 9h Probably not the strangest but I'm pretty bewildered by what just happened on the way to work Sat down at the back of the bus like I always do Dude sat in the seat in front of me. Looked normal, t-shirt, jeans, looked awake and didn't smell like a pothead. He turned around to look me and said "Hey". Not like "Hey! You took my wallet!" or "Hey, got any gum?". Just a regular, "Hey. I am acknowledging you as a person I am in proximity with." So I respond with the same "Hey."

Text - lamehead 11.8K 10h Was pumping gas and ran into the gas station for a drink. When I came out some tweaker lookin dude was getting out of the front seat of my truck. It took a couple seconds to sink in but by the time I got to my truck I realized this guy was either trying to steal my truck or stuff from inside it. I confronted him and asked him what he was doing. He said "I thought I was supposed to take your truck." What the hell are you talking about? I thought I was supposed to take yo

Text - Dude, what the fck were you doing in my truck? I thought I was supposed to take your truck. What the hell does that even mean? God told me to take your truck. I stood there for a couple seconds dumbfounded and told him he belonged in a mental institution. He agreed with me and then took off into an empty field and disappeared. I still can't understand why he just stood there and let me lay into him like that. Meth is a hell of a drug. Edit: I forgot one last thing. When I got in my truck

Text - geewhizz90 1 1.8K 10h My wife was pregnant and we were checking out at the grocery store. The cashier asked how she planned on delivering and suggested that my wife not get an epidural. The cashier, who was maybe 20, said how amazing it felt to feel her baby slide through the birth canal. Getting an epidural would ruin that experience.

Text - Maxwelldoggums1.6K 12h Once, I went to a Dunkin Donuts in Philadelphia. I was with a group of friends, so we decided to buy a whole dozen to share. We did the normal song and dance of choosing our 13 (bakers dozen) flavors, until it came time to pay. There was a large sign on the window advertising a sale, a dozen donuts for like, $8 or something. I pointed at the sign, and asked if the promotion was still available. The man at the register shook his head and said it had expired the other

Text - googleyedjack 1 781 11h I used to get really baked and our friend that didn't smoke would drive us all to McDonald's at like 3 am. Of course we all got an insane amount of food averaging to 15 bucks per person. My bill was $4.20, the drivers was $4.20 and the super stoned almost sick looking guy in the back was $0.30. We all tried our best to keep straight faces as we paid, half expecting someone to come up and be like ahhhhhh here's your food you baked bonzos. But no, same lady that took

Text - CleavageConneisseur 1 1.4K 11h I got into a pool cab, a middle aged man sitting beside me said "can you remove the earphones from your ear, they are bothering me." I was surprised and annoyed and said "no." Then he said " OK, can you share one with me then?" I said no again and changed seats One of the strangest conversations I ever had.

Text - Timpunny 1.0K 10h I've had my fair share of the ol' awkward dance when you run into someone in a hallway. Today I almost ran into this guy but he lightly grabbed my shoulders and gently moved me to the side in one fluid motion. I can't say that was the best solution, but it's better than the dance.

Text - pinkcamo37 255 9h I use to be an EMT, and dementia is a wild thing. My favorite was a guy who we had to keep driving places to find him a bed. He was totally not coherent, and his mind went everywhere. He was telling me how he was a general in the Army, and they used rabbits for mind control experiments I got yelled at for 'indulging into his fantasy', but what else do you talk about? I needed to know more about his mind control rabbits.

Text - ShadowPDX 662 10h I'm a CNA at a nursing home, and almost all the residents have some form of dementia. This one woman in particular comes to mind. Every time I ask her something she shoots it back at me ShadowPDX- "Hey would you like a shower today?" Granny: "Would you like a shower?" ShadowPDX: "Uhh, is everything okay? Do you need help?" Granny: "Do YOU need help?" So either she's lost it or she's the most sarcastic person I've met. Cut to seconds later where she would then start spewi
